I heard we had to do funny name threads on this board, right?

Lets have a wee keek at Wikipedia.

===
Not to be confused with Twatt, Shetland
===

Important note. Dont cross the streams.

===
Twatt is a settlement in the parish of Birsay on the Mainland of Orkney,
Scotland. It was previously the location of RNAS Twatt (HMS Tern),
1940–1949.[1][2][3] Twatt is situated at the junction of the A986 and the
A967.[4][5]

Etymology

Remains at Twatt airfield

Twatt Church
The settlement name originates from the Old Norse þveit, meaning 'small
parcel of land'.[citation needed] The Norse word commonly produces in
England the place name element Thwaite.[6][7]

The name Twatt is similar to the common English expletive "Twat," (a vulgar
word for vulva and also an insulting term meaning a weak or contemptible
individual). For this reason, Twatt remains a source of amusement to people
from outside the parish. Its name featured at no. 4 of the most vulgar
sounding names in Rude Britain, along with its Shetland namesake.

===

When I was at school, there was a lad at the Royal High or Heriots, whose
nickname was Twat or possibly Twack. We pronounced it "Twack" but had also
been told that it was a VERY RUDE WORD. I cant recall his pals nickname. :(

I also heard the variant "twack" used. Never knew whether it was a
deliberate bowdlerisation or just a Word Thing.

"What happened then?"

"They forced them to power wash their patios."

A967.[4][5]
===
Number one most vulgar sounding name in Britain: Grimsby. :|||\\
Cant argue with that. :|
Especially now that I find that Slatterthwaite in Grizedale is actually
Satterthwaite in Grizedale. :|
O why o why couldnt it have been Splatterthwaite? :(((
Maybe it was, but TPTB decreed that it should be cleaned up. :(
"Apre`s nous, le de'luge", as the forensics people say. In this case
theyre usually talking about a Karcher.
I bet Karchering is fun. If done willingly and voluntarily.
As ooposed to what?!
"I remember it was early morning when the soldiers came. They rounded
up all the men from the village."
"What happened then?"
"They forced them to power wash their patios."
I see how it could come across that way. I was picturing people being
pressured (HAH!) to do it by a parent or spouse.
Harassed mom: Preston, I need you to power wash the patio right now.
Entitled son: Fuck you, mom! Im playing my vidya where I power wash
patios to earn equipment upgrades.
That is a funny situation. I hope it has happened.
If you mean has anyone ever dodged doing something to play a game where
they do essentially the same thing? Then yes, almost certainly.
Especially if you generalise a bit.

If you mean power washing patios, specifically? Hmm. Maybe in .de.

It feels as if it has a lot of cromulence. Satisfying word.

The Orkney scenes were filmed in location in Orkney, including on remote
Papa Westray, where the author wrote the book. The standing stones and
cliffs and the Kirkwall scenes were recognisable, too, and the wild
swimming beach with the shipwreck sticking up.

There were London locations by a canal, set in a district that began with H.
Hackney? I will try to check.

swimming beach with the shipwreck sticking up.
Two standing stone rings! Ring of Brodgar and Stones of Stenness.

There were London locations by a canal, set in a district that began with H.
Hackney? I will try to check.
===
Locations included Metworks, commercial road, Glass House, Bethnal Green,
Hackney City Farm Yard, Hackney, and The Haggerston Pub
===
And, in London, the flats and towpath shown on this page as "Ronas flat"
(George Loveless House, Dorset Estate, Bethnal Green, near Hackney Road)
and "Towpath stroll" (Regents Canal guess through Hackney.)
Towpath Stroll is definitely going to be the antagonist in my next
Inspector Gooch novel. :D

I heard we had to do funny name threads on this board, right?
Lets have a wee keek at Wikipedia.
===
Not to be confused with Twatt, Shetland
===
Important note. Dont cross the streams.
===
Twatt is a settlement in the parish of Birsay on the Mainland of Orkney,
Scotland. It was previously the location of RNAS Twatt (HMS Tern),
1940?1949.[1][2][3] Twatt is situated at the junction of the A986 and the
A967.[4][5]
===
I should say so. If there isnt a game called "Busmans Holiday" there jolly
well ought to be.

I can picture it. Although TBF, I have neither power washed a patio nor

It feels as if it has a lot of cromulence. Satisfying word.
BTW I watched a film set in Orkney (and London) today. Orkney shorescapes,
landscapes, seascapes, interiors IMPRESSIVE.
Have you checked the filming locations sites to see where it was really
filmed?
The Orkney scenes were filmed in location in Orkney, including on remote
Papa Westray, where the author wrote the book. The standing stones and
cliffs and the Kirkwall scenes were recognisable, too, and the wild
swimming beach with the shipwreck sticking up.

I heard we had to do funny name threads on this board, right?
Lets have a wee keek at Wikipedia.
===
Not to be confused with Twatt, Shetland
===
Important note. Dont cross the streams.
===
Twatt is a settlement in the parish of Birsay on the Mainland of Orkney,
Scotland. It was previously the location of RNAS Twatt (HMS Tern),
1940?1949.[1][2][3] Twatt is situated at the junction of the A986 and the
A967.[4][5]
===
I should say so. If there isnt a game called "Busmans Holiday" there jolly
well ought to be.
Well Im pretty sure that .de has Bus Driver Simulator. So there
literally is.

If you mean power washing patios, specifically? Hmm. Maybe in .de.
I can picture it. Although TBF, I have neither power washed a patio nor
played a patio power washing game.
I played a game where you press buttons to move pixels on the screen,
and if you do it right a number goes up.
Cool!
Its awesome! Sometimes you get a bonus and the number goes up more.
That must be exciting!

Was this a real game? What platform?
It was every game. On every platform.
The world is amazing.

It feels as if it has a lot of cromulence. Satisfying word.
